- Someone help, please! I'm running the above on a MAC LCIII with
- 24M Ram and Mac TCP/PPP communication software, along with the
- latest Netscape Binary 4.
- USR is extremely slow in responding- like a month, is this
- tolerable by the way?- and is dumb anyhow like all technical
- support I've so far come across.
-
- Well- my modem zips along...sometimes reaching 28.8 on its
- connections! MOre often 26.4...I've got the port rate at 36.4.
-
- My problem is two fold:
-
- 1) sometimes I'll go hours without a problem, then in the space of
- 15 minutes I'll have 10 disconnects. Other times, I just get
- disconnected every so often. Now I have a noise supressor- to
- little noticeable effect so far. However, with THE NAVAS 28800
- MADEM FAQ- a real blessing, "BLESS YOU"...I have been checking the
- I6 screen to see why I'm disconnecting. Two reasons- sometimes
- one, sometimes the other. It either tells me "Loss of carrier", or
- "Unable to Retrain". Now, why can't my modem retrain itself. And
- why is it trying to do so so often. Fallback is on, and working.
- Error control is on too to the highest degree...
-
- and
-
- 2) when I get disconnected, my modem snaps off with a crackle, and
- then I have to physically reach over and turn the thing off and on
- (sometimes up to 5x) to, I guess, reset the thing so that it will
- reconnect to my local server. This is a real drag. Oops it just
- clicked off....gotta go attend to it. Please, anyone, help!!!
